It all started when me and my friends were having a contest on who could

jump the highest. Whoever won would get 20 dollars from every person.

I was thinking about all the things I could buy with that money. 120 dollars all to myself!

All my friends that were in the contest were either the same height as me or

shorter. It was funny

because my friend Aiden was like a foot shorter than everybody, but he still joined.

I was excited because I already knew I was going to win. It was a wet and cloudy

day. The basketball court was really slippery but we didn’t

care. When the contest started everybody was hardly touching the backboard. I was

last so I got to see how high everybody got, so I had an advantage cause I already

knew what spot I had to touch in order to win.

It was the moment of truth. I got my feet set and jumped has high as I could. I

slapped my whole hand on the backboard. I was already celebrating before I came

down, which was a bad idea. When my foot hit the ground it slipped in a puddle

and turned in a direction it wasn’t supposed to. I heard a loud snap and felt a sharp

pain. I was scared because if my foot is broken I would have to wear a cast, and

miss my AAU basketball Houston trip. I called my mom and she rushed me to the ER.

I was so nervous when I was waiting for the results. When the doctor came in

the room I crossed my fingers. He told me that’s it was a really bad sprain and that

I would have to use crutches for 2 weeks. In my head I was thinking about how

karma might actually be real.
