Through the large black doors in Ms. Aliff’s art room, room 404, lies the Tabb Middle School Courtyard. This rectangular, quaint, and humble enclosure has plenty wildlife and flora. It may not be the biggest, approximately 80 feet long and 45 feet wide, it still has its uses. A few of these such uses are class experiments, isolation, to please the eye, and helping the native ecosystem.

Dusty red brick walls and smooth classroom windows stand alongside the grassy green ground’s perimeter. Near the center of the yard lies a small pond south of a large crepe myrtle tree. The pool of water has its own man-made waterfall hidden by tall blades of grass and a tower of rocks. Overlooking the pond is a fake carved owl made to scare away other large birds from eating all of the small animals. Close to the owl is a decently sized wooden brown bench with a skimmer behind it.

Returning to the perimeter of the enclosure, it has hoses, lawnmowers, gardening supplies, and boots. As well as a single outlet, hidden behind the back of a tree. Although, there is something that catches the eye, a large, circular blue pool filled with water. Opposite of the pool, is a white, matte, and rectangular box, I don’t know exactly why it’s out there though. Nearby the blue pool is two planters, one with a glossy fairy house, filled with different jumbled plants. Close to the planters is a muted, dirty compost pile. That is what I observed in the courtyard. The End.
